Friday, July 29, 2005 Worth1000: Fix anything. Great little gallery today. Lots of clever ideas.
Also: New piece up at deviantart. @ 05:02 PM CST [Link] I have a feeling I'll be seeing this t-shirt everywhere soon. Its just disturbing and subtle enough that you could get away with wearing it in public. Probably not work safe.
@ 04:47 PM CST [Link] Honeymoon in space planned. Maybe we'll get the first zero-g human conception. Odd thought, but you know some couple will be gunning for it. That and the first baby born in space. “Loretta and I have tickets to be the first honeymoon couple on the Virgin Galactic service. It’s not going to happen for a few years, but it’s something we’ve been thinking about for a long time,” Whitesides told SPACE.com in a phone interview. @ 04:44 PM CST [Link] On bizzaro Arrakis, plants create deserts. Planting trees can create deserts, lower water tables and drain rivers, rather than filling them, claims a new report supported by the UK government. Slightly related: Bill Sienkiewicz drew five Dune comics for Marvel and no one ever told me? Scroll down. Interesting page, I didn't know Herbert had some George Lucas in him. Licensing out the Songs of Maud'dib songbook and two activity books seems a little odd. Then again, a good part of Star Wars is heavily influenced by Dune. @ 04:40 PM CST [Link] Tuesday, July 26, 2005 Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story! leaked on the internet already. A umm friend is watching it right now. Will this hurt bottom line sales? Probably. Fox should just air it on television to attract new viewers. The die-hards have already seen it. Twice. Oddly enough, the movie opens up with a bit about bootlegging the movie itself.
@ 08:48 PM CST [Link] Colorful photography. Nice gallery by a Japanese photographer.
@ 08:41 PM CST [Link] Gratuitous and mean spirited Bush jokes. Reminds me of an old co-worker who had a Bush related comment for everything. Some people are just always "on." Q: How many eggs does it take to make a good omelet? @ 08:38 PM CST [Link] When Harry Potter fans attack! This just cracks me up: But when somebody e-mails to say, "Seriously bitch u need to watch what teh f -- you say," it certainly commandeers a critic's attention. Add to that the dozens of correspondents who took the trouble to call me dork, idiot, schmuck or worse, and it's all occasioned some serious soul-searching here on the literature desk. @ 08:25 PM CST [Link] New PBF this week. Also, Mr Wiggles goes to therapy. @ 08:16 PM CST [Link] Sunday, July 24, 2005 Excellent gallery of japanese goth dolls. via robotwisdom Also: Wikipedia on gothic lolita. @ 09:47 PM CST [Link] A couple new photos up at deviant art. My photoshop-fu and photos need some work, but I'm slowly getting there. Wherever there is. @ 09:39 PM CST [Link] What Lollapalooza 2005 looks like through a camphone. The crowds, the heat, the price gouging, and the rip-off and annoyance that is having two bands playing at the same time was worth it to finally see Spoon and Weezer live. Easily the best live acts there. The Arcade Fire gets a close third.
@ 12:21 PM CST [Link] Great find over at musicthing today: Man builds two-string bass inspired by aliens. That's just one ugly instrument. @ 12:03 PM CST [Link] 19th century timeline of women's bathing suits. Really makes me think that religions which limit what women can wear have yet to enter the 20th century in any meaningful way. Islam, Orthodox Jews, and some Xtian sects are guilty of this. @ 12:00 PM CST [Link] [Archives] Search entries: |
