02/06/2007 Entry: "Free online tax returns over at H&R block"

Free online tax returns over at H&R block That is if you make under $53,000 a year and have pretty simple tax requirements. Its handy but at the same time its pretty disgraceful that the IRS hasn't setup its own web forms for simple returns like the 1040EZ. Paying a free for the priveldge of doing my taxes online and generating less work for the IRS is just wrong.

I just filed with turbotax. Bastards charged $50 and I did all the work.

Here's another strange tidbit. They took the blanks for the tuition credit and the educator credit of the 1040 form even though the credits are still availabe. (You have to put them on different lines and put a notation by them. And you have to use the 1040, not 1040EZ) But the correct blanks are on the web form. If the regular ones aren't right, I should have to pay to use the forms that are right.
