08/28/2005 Entry: "Video of the Philip K Dick bot."
Video of the Philip K Dick bot. Kinda impressive, a bit creepy, but a nice PR ploy by the people over at Hanson Robotics. It would be great if it was donated to a museum and remained on display to give out advice and conspiracy theories posthumously.

"Uncle Dick, will I find love? Is V.A.L.I.S. a metaphor for the unknown? Was the unnamed musician Brian Eno? Do tell!"

I saw this briefly at the nextfest. It wasn't ever functioning properly except for a 20 minute period of time where only a couple girls and the operator were in there with it. The opperator was doing more talking to the girls than the robot was.

The PKD simulacra was at Comic-Con, as part of the promotion of A Scanner Darkly.

I was sure that I had seen video of this event, but now I suspect I was having a Time Out Of Joint moment.

Huh. The comments script broke the URL because it points to a CGI script, I guess. Cut & paste:
