Trailer for A Scanner Darkly out. Oh wow, this looks amazing. ASD is one of my favorite books, I hope they did a good job. Keanu Reeves is in this, I guess he has a thing for sci-fi, so I'm expecting lots of comments on how this is similiar to the matrix. Actually, the Matrix borrows heavilty from lots of sci-fi fare like the brain in a vat scenario, man vs. machine, etc. It looks like he's playing Bob Arctor, which is fine, as that character is a pretty passive and semi-boring guy to begin with. The casting looks pretty solid. Robert Downey Jr. as the crazed Barris, Woody Harrelson as the stoner Luckman, and Winona Ryder as love interest Donna. I think Linklater'll do a fine job -- and I'm not even that worried about Keanu. (Even have a Scanner Darkly "Crew" shirt with his posterized mug on it, that I'm not ashamed to wear in public. Heh.) One thing that's cool about this coming out soon is that the A Scanner Darkly reference in Batman Begins will click for the non-readers out there.
