It takes place in the near future where some people are able to get by with less than an hours worth of sleep per day thus making them very successful because of all the extra time they have. Normal people, referred to as "hibernators" tend to dislike the microsleepers out of jealousy or a bigotry the author doesn't really try to explain. The plot is about a woman choosing between a microsleeper and her hibernator boyfriend.
