04/03/2005 Entry: "A truly international currency."

A truly international currency. I think Robert Anton Wilson once called money "food tickets" in one of his books. Afterall, if you can't turn money into food, you ain't got much on your hands. This idea from the half-bakery is just standardizing this concept with the world's largest fast food franchise.

RAW calls them "bio-survival tickets" in Prometheus Rising, in reference to Leary's bio-survival circuit.

that's based on the idea of purchasing power parity or the law of one price. using a big mac as reference has been circulating around for awhile, of which the economist has done the most to popularise it. they now also have a "starbucks tall latte index" as well. a similar concept is the IMF's SDRs, which would be more of "a truly international currency." gold, as well, has such characteristics. a newer concept that aspires to such commanding heights is the terra TRC, based on benjamin graham's commodity buffer stocks that jm keynes unsuccessfully promoted at bretton woods. oh what might have been :D

cheers!
