Most email clients let you filter by subject line and the SoBig virus only uses a handful of subjects. So all you have to do is make a rule to send these messages straight to the delete bin. Many mail server add-ons let you do this too. I just blocked most, if not all, of the SoBig spam by blocking these subjects: details your details wicked screensaver my details your application approved that movie thank you! You'll also need to put a RE: in front of these as the virus sometimes attaches it to the email subject line. It may seem like a lot of work but supposedly Sobig is only getting bigger. After Sobig cools down its probably a good idea to disable these filters in case you get a legitimate email with those subject lines. I just did this on our Symantec AVG service and so far SoBig has been contained. It does work, at least for now.
